The Bronze Star Medal is awarded to any person who, while serving any capacity in or with the 101st Airborne Division, is distinguished by heroic or meritorious achievement or service, in connection with military operations against any enemy alliance in which the 101st is not a belligerent party. Actions meriting the Bronze Star are verfied and demand sacrifice above regular duty, and denote actions resulting in potential or actual significant loss of troops or materiel.

The Bronze Star is given for acts of heroism, performed under circumstances described above, which are of lesser degree than required for the award of the Silver Star and are awarded by 101st Airborne Military Command (Generals and their Aide de Camps). It is the third highest military honor given by the 101st Airborne Division and is awarded by the Senior Leadership and Aides of the 101st.
